The Shaper finally contacted me and calmed me. The Shaper said that I had to be more careful from now on, but I needed not to worry. We were winning the war. The forces of the Resistance was dwindling each day and we were getting more and more powerful. The victory was near.

I started to operate during the day and stay at home when it was dark. Under the sunlight my body’s green radiance was hardly visible and I could easily hide myself from the members of the Resistance. I had to be very careful not to risk the outcome of our mission.

The Shaper contacted me and brought me good news. The Resistance was defeated, we had triumphed all across the seven continents but there was one last thing to do. The Resistance had gathered its meager forces in Paris trying to impede the opening of the last and the most important portal: the Eiffel Tower. The Shaper told me that I had to go to Paris and open this last portal, as I was the Chosen One, the only person powerful enough to do so. The Shaper told me that I should not fear of the Resistance, the Enlightened would be there to protect me. I had to bring our mission to end, 2013 should be a new beginning for the mankind.

I took the plane to Paris. Champ de Mars was packed with hundreds of thousands of people who had gathered to celebrate the New Year. Around the Eiffel Tower I could see a tight ring of blue light, it was the members of the Resistance, grouped together, trying to disrupt my mission. Stupid idiots, do you really think you can stop me now? The crowd began chanting with the countdown:

I concentrated all my powers towards the Eiffel Tower, trying to find the key to open the portal. The chanting went on:

I could feel my blood pressure rising, my vision was blurred and my ears were buzzing. I was almost there, just a bit more and I would open the portal.

With the first round of the fireworks the Eiffel Tower started to glow in green. The war (of which the humanity had no idea) was over, the Enlightened had finally won, all the portals were open and the Shaper could at last begin the Ingression. And the humanity would finally enter a new age, the age of happiness and compassion, the age of a higher knowledge. Would any of them ever know, that I was the Chosen One, the central figure who made this possible? Would they venerate me as a hero or a saint, or would I continue to live my humble life? I had no time to answer to this question as the Eiffel Tower exploded right in front of my eyes.
Aftermath
I don’t have a full memory of what happened afterwards, there are just some flashbacks. There was a gigantic force that poured out of the portals engulfing and devouring everything but for some reason I was spared of this destruction. I saw the bright green light, I felt panic around me, I heard horrifying screams and I smelled blood. And then I knew that it was over, I had brought doom to our civilization and the humanity was no more. And then I was locked away in a corner of the Universe in a prison of Void.
Epilogue
I was locked away in this prison of Void. There is nothing here, no light, no time, no space, just the endless Void and me floating in it. This prison was my prize, my evolution, my higher knowledge. I have no idea what has become of me, am I still a human or just an intellect floating in the Void? But I am certain of one thing: I exist, therefore I am.
And now trapped in my prison of Void my mind is restlessly searching the vast infinities of the Universe for a planet, for an undiscovered civilization. And I know that sooner or later in one of the corners of the Universe I will find a perfect planet with a flourishing civilization and I will open my first portal there and recruit my first Chosen One promising him a higher knowledge. And when I form my army of the Enlightened I will crush the resistance, I will open all the portals and begin the Ingression. I will completely destroy that civilization and from the ashes I will build a new, better one. And I will give my Chosen One a higher knowledge and imprison him in this Void. I’m tired of being trapped here.
I am the Shaper. And still I am searching.
