The European Commission have just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5 year phase in plan that would be known as "EuroEnglish": --

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c".. Sertainly, this will make the sivil sevants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favor of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced with the "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent "e"'s in the language is disgraceful, and they should go away.

By the 4th yar, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaiining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech ozer.

You know what's the best part of this club? All the "O"s are perfectly round .

Mephisto, the main target here for me is just to speak (write) English; the conversation theme has a secondary signification, IMHO. In other words, it isn't important what you say, it's more important how you say it.

I'm sure you know that there's been a remastered release of all Bteatle songs and albums in 09.09.09 (September 9, 2009). It's very popular here. They play it everywhere. Interesting enough they're in the first place among best sellers. Ironic isn't it, after 30 years from the day they broke up they are still number one...

I agree completely... The Beatles (and the 60's) aren't just song and music. they were rather voice of a rebellious generation. They changed the face of the music forever. It was a phenomenon, whereas now or I should say after 80's included it's more about making a hit sell bunch of albums and get out of the business

You know what I like about 60's The Beatles, Jetro Tull, The Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin...etc....the freedom... the freedom to explore, experiment and rebel ..... something that we are missing a lot ..... don't you think?

that's a unique interpretation of the "Summertime" ... Ball and Chain......... :nobody has done it like she did... I remember Ella Fitzgerald's version ... very good, but nothing like Janis'. She literally detrimental the song and put it back together..... this is all blues although everybody says it's rock.........
